Scillonian (1955) $60.54 High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles The RMV Scillonian (also referred to as Scillonian II) was a passenger ferry built for the Isles of Scilly Steamship Company in 1955 by John I. Thornycroft Company of Woolston, Southampton. She was designed to carry 500 passengers and cargo between Penzance, Cornwall, to the offshore Isles of Scilly. The ship was ordered on 18 March 1954 at a contract price of 250,000 ( 8,000,000 as of 2010),, planned as a replacement for the first Scillonian which had been in continuous service since 1926. The new ship was laid down on 25 March 1955, completed on 15 November 1955 and christened by HRH The Duchess of Gloucester. The second Scillonian was powered by two 6 cylinder four stroke diesel engines (manufactured by Ruston Hornsby) which propelled two threeblade screws, giving the ship a maximum speed of 15.5 knots. A further 100 people were injured in the accident. In terms of human toll, it is the most catastrophic accident in motorsports history. Pierre Levegh, aged 50, had been hired by MercedesBenz as a factory driver that year. Part of his appeal to Mercedes was his determination shown in the 1952 race when he had driven for 23 straight hours. He had been leading because he did not have to take up any time by switching driverseven though he did have a driver who could have replaced him. The review defined 32 burgh constituencies (BCs) and 39 county constituencies (CCs), with each electing one Member of Parliament (MP) by the first past the post system of election. Therefore Scotland had 71 parliamentary seats. Chevrolet Astro $117.9 The Chevrolet Astro was a rearwheel drive minivan introduced by Chevrolet in 1985 to rival domestic (American) competitors the Dodge Caravan/Plymouth Voyager twins and the Japanese Toyota Van. Also sharing the Astros platform was its sibling, the GMC Safari. In addition to standard passenger uses, the vans were also available as cargo vans, and converters used them as the basis for small conversion vans. Both Pontiac and GMC have used the Safari nameplate (GMC is part of the Pontiac/GMC division); Pontiac used the nameplate on several of its station wagon models from 1955 through 1989. The two Safaris, both Pontiac and GMC, were on the market together (often sold by the same dealerships) from 1985 through 1989. The Astro model name had been used previously for the unrelated Chevrolet Astro 1 Concept car, first shown at the New York Auto Show of 1967.
